The women of paris marched to Versailles to confront Louis XVI during the French revolution. They sought liberal political reforms and a constitutional monarchy.
The women grew into a mob of thousands; they ransacked the city armory for weapons and marched to the palace of Versailles, besieged the palace, and successfully pressed their demands upon Louis XVI This event was good/ beneficial because it ended the king's independence and signified the change of power and future reforms coming to France, and symbolized a new balance of power that displaced the French nobility and now favored the common people (the third estate). It stood as an inspirational example for others (as the american revolution did). I appreciate this event, even though I am not French, because in history, you most commonly hear about men doing the fighting and creating change, but this event shows that women were just as crucial to success as men- they marched, they seized the palace, they took away the king's independence, they were the Parisian women that changed France.nThey were successful in this march, which heavily contributed to the French revolution and their future constitution. This also produced the common phrase "let them eat cake" supposedly said by Marie Antoinette that is still around today.
