Assignment 4 Shalom Saldana

This photograph and demonstrate the American victory at the battle of Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was a major battle against Japan during World War II. The photograph was taken by  Joe Rosenthal. Six Marines or seen raising the American flag at Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945.  This photograph went on to win the Pulitzer Prize of photography and became one of the most recognizable war images. It is one of the most reproduced photographs of all time and became a US postage stamp in 1945. This photo brought a sense of accomplishment to all Americans as well as allowing us to experience the moment without actually being there. Especially to those who had loved ones who fought in the war.
