Assn 9: Leighanne Guettler-James

There is simply never a time for war. War is one of the most meaningless and barbaric activities present in modern society. You would think that a society where education and civility is valued so highly and everyone is so worried about "morals" would have ditched the ancient tradition of physical war. This type of war accomplishes nothing but establishing a contended dominance for one country that is forcefully one and bound to be rejected at some point. Not to mention the fact that it mindlessly allows millions of good people to die and kill innocent people from another country solely based on what country they are from. A much more effective way of solving disputes is careful debate and compromise. If all the of the world's superpowers would sacrifice their egotistic need to physically dominate the others, this could be possible. Even if it does create a balance just as fragile and contestable as war does, it doesn't require innocent people to die for mostly hidden agendas or deficit spending by nations involved. Maybe if the world as a whole were less focused on war as a whole, violence and social separation would be less of a focus as well.
