A father pauses at his son’s name on the 9/11 Memorial at
the 10th anniversary ceremony at the site of the World Trade Center.
This picture makes me wonder what the people around this man
are feeling. Are they feeling for the man? Are they wishing their loved ones were
there with them? Are they mourning a loss every day?
It also makes me wonder what the father is thinking at this
moment. Is he remembering his son? Or can he only remember the events of that
day? Did he see it happen? Was he with his son? Did he come to the ceremony
alone? Or did he just want a moment alone? Is he wondering if the pain will
ever get better? Does he wish it was him instead? Does he regret his last words
to him? Or does he remember that day with pride as his son was so brave? What
is he feeling?
