The reason I watch TV is the same reason I read, I love
stories. Stories about history and hardships and life changing decisions, about
success and failure. These stories can be fiction or nonfiction but if they
really have no thought or progression to them they become boring to me. I have
never cared about celebrities, which is the main reason I have never watched
the Emmys. I didn’t even realize that they had happened. I personally believe it’s
the people who actually have made life-altering accomplishments that I believe
deserve to be celebrated.
The fact that the Noble Prizes are overlooked while the Emmys
are given so much attention tells me that our society is very socially based.
The Emmys are advertised expansively and, being the more popular of the two,
are more well known. So in the social civilization that we live in today, it’s
not surprising that the receive more attention. This isn’t necessarily good or
bad, it just shows the way our world is shaped by media. People just have to
make sure that they don’t let their mind be shaped by what is considered most
popular.
