Assignment 3- Sheridan Wagner

I personally do not believe in an absolute good and evil. I don't even think a line between them exists. Sure there are certain behaviors that society characterizes as "good" and other as "bad," but really it's all relative. The two sides, good and evil, I view as excuses. They are methods for pinning people against each other.

We are raised on fairy tales that teach us that there are distinct traits that fall into the category of good and evil, but when we are faced with reality the division is extremely blurred. We view our own side as good and the other side as evil. We see our opinion and then sometimes refuse to even acknowledge the other side of the issue. We see crime and categorize it as evil. We see hatred and categorize it as evil. We see darkness and categorize it as evil. Sometimes it's difficult to see the problem from the other side. We are raised to hate evil, but hatred of others can be seen as evil. So does not make us evil?

I love TV shows. They are a way for me to exert my emotions and not fear the reaction I may get back. I really love this on TV show that I am way too emotionally invested in and my absolute favorite character in this show, probably my absolute favorite character of all time, isn't someone you would necessarily call a "good" guy (he actually may kind of be a demon, literally). He is the main antagonist in a couple of seasons. And then he's a protagonist in quite a few more. This has completely changed the way I view good and evil. It's fluid and really depends on your prospective.

I think they're choices. You make the decision or none at all. You should be the only one who defines yourself as good or evil.
