On October 9, 1986, the musical, The Phantom of the Opera made its debut in London, England. Now, to some people, this may not seem all that significant, but to me and to other people who love theater, musicals, and opera, it's extremely important. This musical has been an inspiration for many other musicals since and is a show that theater people and non-theater people can enjoy. It brought a new take on both musicals and opera to the world. Though this musical may not have had a massive effect on the world at large, this had a huge effect on the theater community as a whole. It also had an effect on me. I wasn't alive when it first debuted, but it is one of the shows that grabbed my attention and has sustained my love for musical theater. This show is one of the shows I really want to be in. The want to be in shows like The Phantom of the Opera is what keeps me working and motivates me to become a better actor and musician.
