Assignment 9 - Caitlin Southworth
When you think of war, it instantly sounds bad, towns are destroyed people are killed and nations are changed. Some may think war is never the answer, and, indeed, it is a tricky subject. But without war, nations would never change. Tyrants could never be overtaken, overpowering monarchs would only gain more power, the people of every nation would never have any real power. America was founded on war- we fought the British to overpower the monarch, and form a new, more equal nation (to rich white men at least) that continues to create more equality within (19th amendment, ending slavery, civil rights). So, is war the answer? Sometimes yes, war is needed to better a nation, but it doesn’t always end up that way. Powerful nations may just end up with more control if the opponent is unfit for war or not as good. When this is the case, powerful war countries should help the little guys to win the war, so that they can better their nation and not be subject to the inequality that previously reigned. War is a controversial subject with no right or wrong, it leaves you to determine whether it was the right choice or the wrong.
