To me, this is a complicated question. With the way our society has developed since the beginning of time, I would say that yes, war is necessary sometimes. But that is not to say that it would have always been inevitable had the world developed differently. We have learned from history that it seems war is the only way to fix problems that cannot be solved otherwise, although sometimes just because the people in our history books avoided peacemaking we assume that we must avoid it as well. War is necessary as a response to war, but perhaps it need never have been started in the first place. The time for war is when others have brought it upon you; war is not to be brought upon oneself. War is never the lesser of two evils, but rather a greater evil to society than any other injustice. I will not say that war is to be avoided at all costs, but at least the costs of human life.
