Thanksgiving
is my absolute favorite holiday. It’s free food and typically good food that
comes without the expectation of giving and receiving gifts like at Christmas.
It is also typically much less chaotic than all other holidays for my family.
For most holidays we visit my dad’s family and nearly 30 people, 13 of which
are below the age of 18, cram into a house that wasn’t really meant for 30
people. But not on Thanksgiving where we visit my mom’s family. There are less
than half of that amount, the food is great, and I am able to see a side of the
family I don’t already see at least once a week. I don’t have any standout
memories from Thanksgiving. The holiday is pretty uneventful for me and I would
never want it any other way. This year’s Thanksgiving was a little different
because I had two. One with my dad’s family on Thursday, but about half of them
were in Alabama, and one with my mom’s family on Saturday. So bonus, I got to
eat two Thanksgiving dinners.
