Assignment 21 Daryn Smith
At this very moment, somewhere in the universe, someone is wondering when they will have their next meal-if they will have a next meal. The state of so many countries worldwide is devastating and something I ponder often. My dad and I recently discussed how fortunate we are compared to so many when we don't consider ourselves to be wealthy at all. Putting my state of living into perspective worldwide is a shocking thing to do. Until relatively recently, I never really felt the gratitude that I should that I know I will be able to have three meals every day and a bed to sleep in at night. For so long, it seemed to me that such a state was standard. It amazes and saddens me that some kids really go days without eating. Even though I definitely don't have endless money or an abundance of wealth, some kids would feel so lucky to have everything I do. Thinking about these things makes me feel sad for the lives that far too many people lead, but also extremely fortunate to have what I do.
