Assignment 19: Sadie Marsh

The most impactful piece of advice I have received would be “see the bigger picture.” As you grow up and mature your ability to see the bigger picture or to see beyond one event, gets better. Children do not have the ability to see how little one event will impact their whole life. They only see what is right in front of them.

Losing your favorite toy, coloring outside of the lines, eating one more cookie than you were allowed. None of those will matter 10 years, a year, or in a month. These are small problems that won’t keep you from doing anything (except maybe eating anymore cookies for a while) that you really want or need to do in life. At the time, they are a huge deal.

In reality, that one ‘F’ you got on that math test won’t keep you from going to college. But when that test is sitting right in front of you, and you can see that big, red ‘F’, it seems like it is the end of the world.

This piece of advice is something I remember when something goes wrong.
