Assignment 5: For the Love and Hate of Television - Jake Tucker

For me television is not the necessity it has become for some people. In reality television for me is more of a tool than a luxury, I get news and a little entertainment from this device, but that is changing. It was once a daily part of my routine to see what is going on in the world as I would get ready, but now it is much easier to check my Twitter feed and Apple News app for all my daily information to keep me up in the world.

Now, don't get me wrong, I still watch television. Though really only when I can't make it to watch the Wildcats play, or if there is a big sporting matchup taking place that I can't get to, usually featuring Alabama if it is football or some basketball team that isn't as good as Kentucky. That is really it, I don't watch anything else, like ever. This is due to the magic that is Netflix, or Hulu, or any other streaming service. These things have reinvented television, and made actual television somewhat redundant. Making the only time I will sit down I front of the television for four hours, and feel bad about it, when the Wildcats are playing football. I feel good about it the rest of the time.
