Assignment 5- Ellie Phillips

When I get home from school I throw my backpack down and jump onto the couch and simply just watch TV. I consider it my break in between school and soccer practice. Everyday I watch the same reruns on the same network with the same advertisements. Why? Because after a long 7 hour school day I’m mentally exhausted and I need a break. Ideally, I would be able to go home and immediately start homework, but that is not possible for me because I have no focus right after school- like I said, I’m mentally spent. This brings up another issue why use my break time watching TV rather than reading or taking a nap? Though I agree reading can be just as entertaining if not more than TV, I still need to use a little brain power and focus when I read, so of course it is not my go-to for after school breaks. Napping would probably be better for me than watching TV, but I have trouble falling asleep and when I wake up I feel too groggy to get up and start playing soccer. So, TV it is. It’s entertaining and not mentally or physically exhausting. It’s the perfect hour and a half respite in between school and soccer. Aside from watching the nightly news, this is the only time I watch TV.
The shows I like are typically lighthearted shows. Basically anything comedy like the Office, Friends, Parks and Rec, and even Bob’s Burgers. I don’t hate dramatic shows, but I don’t watch them often either. Reality TV is a nope for me.
