Blog 12- Safal Dumre

I am a remote. I was created to satisfy the lazy nature of the human being. The concept of getting up to change the television was far too arduous and cumbersome to even imagine, thus I was created. When the humans are home I am forced to remain stagnant in the position I am placed. In the mind of the human, I am merely an object whose sole purpose is to control another object, unable to do anything else. What the humans don’t understand is that I have a mind, powered by two double A batteries, able to think, feel and dream just like them. I watch the television shows with my human and have learned the culture. I have seen the multitude of shows that depict different aspects of life in different ways. These depictions are often interrupted by the advertisements of American consumerism. When my human leaves I am often bullied by the sofa. I am pulled into the darkness underneath the seat cushion and forced to remain there until my human is able to find me.  I have been thrown around my entire life, changing hands to whoever seeks to have their pleasures satisfied by my assets. I have been on my death bed more than once, my human refusing to accept that it’s time for my batteries to be changed. I have been used, worn down, even beaten. My life is one that has always been taken for granted.
