Assignment 13: Ellie Phillips
We should eliminate all cars as a way to reduce pollution. Cars they get us places, but they also hurt the earth. There are other forms of transportation that are much less environmentally damaging, but not as common as cars. If you live in the city, walk or bike wherever you go. No matter the weather because should a few feet of snow stop you from saving the earth? If you need to travel far away, there is no shame in bringing back old modes of transportation like horses. If the distance is extremely far, take a plane or train or boat. Just don’t take a car because those are the contribute most to pollution. Sure cars can take you to individualized places, but a compromise is necessary to conserve our planet. Take a transportation vehicle to the general area and walk/bike from there. Beyond saving the life of the earth, think of how many lives are saved when we take out car crashes. Hundreds of cars crash each day injuring or killing innocent people, but if we stop cars we also stop these tragic deaths. Furthermore, planes, trains, and boats are driven by professionals, so the public just has to sit back and relax while being transported to their destination. Walking or biking to get around would drastically reduce the obesity within our society. Americans would be more fit than ever; everyone could get in their daily steps by walking to and from work. Society would not halt without cars, it would improve. Deaths would decrease, and health would increase. But most importantly, no cars reduces pollution to save the earth.
