Assignment 9- Paige Barricklow
There is a time when war becomes necessary, but it should never be a first response. There are cases where there is practically no other option, especially when the other side of the potential conflict has already resorted to violence and diplomatic negotiations have failed at all turns. Just because it's the only option, doesn't make it right. There are times in people's lives where the only thing they can do to survive is something that is morally wrong, but it becomes necessary. No country has a responsibility to go to war for any reason. There are many cases where it is the decision that makes the most sense from a political, economic, or even a moral standpoint, but no one country has the responsibility of going to war. Many countries do go to war when it isn't the only option. Many times a diplomatic compromise is possible, but one or both sides are too stubborn to budge on what they want. Diplomacy should always be the first choice, but there are some times where going to war is the only option.
