Assignment 14- Daryn Smith
Thanksgiving for my immediate family typically means traveling. Every year until this one, we have gone on long road trips to visit family in Chicago, Fanwood, New Jersey, and Gaithersburg, Maryland. Our car rides consisted of books on tape, music, and road games, such as finding each letter of the alphabet on the passing signs. My cousins, grandparents, and us all come together and spend Thanksgiving Day cooking and preparing food for dinner that night. My favorite part was always making sweet potato casserole because I got to put the marshmallows on top and usually eat a couple, too. Each family member has a dish that they usually make. My grandma has 3 at least that she likes to make herself. This year, my family is coming to Lexington instead of us going to visit them. This is partly because my sister, a freshman in college, wants to be able to see some of her friends. Thanksgiving is a very important and enjoyable holiday because of the family aspect, but I personally am not a huge fan of Thanksgiving dinner. I don't really like turkey, stuffing, or green bean casserole. My favorite Thanksgiving memory is from two years ago when we all went to Chicago and I got to visit with one of my friends from camp.
