Technology effects every aspect of our lives. Socially,
culturally, fundamentally we have all come to rely on it. While it does have
many positive impacts, I find societies overall reliance on our modern
technology to be overwhelming.
I don’t have any form of social media. In middle school I
was talked into creating an Instagram account and I stopped using once I got
into high school. I found it to be an unreliable source of actual communication.
People tended to absent mindedly comment and like and I was unable to form any
personal connections through it. Not that I’m the best at socializing, but I
have always preferred face to face social interactions so that I can at least
slightly understand how the person is actually feeling. Once you start to put
boundaries between communication, this personal interaction becomes limited.
Technology is complicated and with so many different
products it tends to get confusing for me. I’m not great at managing technology
and sometimes I can’t figure out how it works. Today’s growing dependence on
technology has made me struggle through figuring out how to manage the constant
new technological advancements.
Even though I understand the importance behind new technology,
it often gets in my way.
