Assignment 17 - TD

I have decided to compare Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away by Academy award winning director Hayao Miyazaki. The two films are by the same director so it will be obvious to see the similarities. They are both of the animated film genre and carry similar atmospheres. The mood surrounding both films is one of wistfulness and tranquility. Thus both films leave you nostalgic and slightly homesick. The art style is the exact same as they are both animated by Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki refuses to bend to new-fangled technology, for every single movie he creates he draws everything first, alone, and then animates it through computers. Howl's Moving Castle has a more complex plot than Spirited Away and is harder to fully grasp. Though that is not saying Howl's Moving Castle is better than Spirited Away. The music for Howl's Moving Castle is more grand while Spirited Away's music is more "personal". I find that both movies ebb and flow like a wave, and start similarly. You start slowly and are soon swept up into the films and ride the wave along with it.
