Assignment 17- Joonyoung Park

I watched La La Land mainly because everyone was saying it was an amazing movie and because it won numerous awards. Emma Stone's character, Mia, an aspiring actress, meets Ryan Gosling's character, Sebastian, a jazz fanatic with the hopes of saving jazz by opening his own jazz club. The story revolves around these two striving to achieve their dreams. However in the process, the two of them realize that they must travel down different paths and become distant from each other. 5 years later, when Mia returns home, one would think that she would be with Sebastian but she ends up marrying another man and having a child with him. On a night out Mia and her husband hear great music coming out of a club and enter only to find that it is Sebastian's club. Overall I thought this was a great movie with great songs to back it up. And even though the two main characters didn't end up together, I liked it because it was a more realistic ending and wasn't cliche like many hoped for.
